Ford India has issued a recall notice for the Figo hatchback and Figo Aspire Sedan. Both petrol as well as diesel models will be affected by the recall, the reason for which is a software issue with the Restraint Control Module (RCM) that could lead to airbags not deploying under certain conditions. Ford dealers have been instructed to handle this recall.
The press release issued by Ford India states, “A corrective action on all Figo and Figo Aspire vehicles, presently at Ford dealerships, has been undertaken, leading to a resumption of deliveries to customers. Ford remains committed to delivering world-class quality vehicles to our customers, and this voluntary safety recall is part of that commitment.”
It may be recalled that in September 2013, Ford had recalled 1,66,021 units of its compact car Figo and Classic sedan to sort out problems related to steering and rear suspension. The recall impacted different batches of the Figo and Classic models manufactured between January 2010 and June 2012.
It was the biggest recall in the country since the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers introduced voluntary recall based on safety in July 2012.
